Exclusive: Arsenal Have Been Given An Injury Boost On Martinelli
Arsenal have suffered a major injury to Gabriel Martinelli just days after picking up an injury during their international clash with Brazil.
After appearing as a substitute in Brazil’s 2-1 CONMEBOL World Cup win over Chile, word quickly spread that Martinelli would not be able to train with the national team due to a muscle problem, making it a real concern for Arsenal.
Arsenal fans were left panicking at the news of Martinelli’s injury, especially after Martin Odegaard picked up a serious injury during the September international break and is expected to be out for at least a month.
However, their fears were unfounded as Martinelli does not appear to have suffered a serious injury and is likely to feature for Arsenal when they face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
Arsenal’s chief journalist Charles Watts said: “My understanding is that, following conversations with the Brazilian team’s medical staff, there is not much concern at Arsenal over the severity of Martinelli’s issue,” via ‘Caught Offside’.
He went on to say of his potential return: “He could still miss Saturday’s game but that will be decided on Friday before the squad travel to the south coast after their final training session at London Colney.
“Arsenal did not insist on Martinelli’s early return to England. They are happy that he stayed in Brazil and returned with Gabriel Magalhães after the match against Peru.
Martinelli will be eager to fit in for game time after scoring in the Gunners’ last two Premier League games against Leicester City and Southampton for the first time since March 2023.
