Arsenal Scouts Are Keenly Monitoring Bournemouth Star After The Clash On Saturday
Arsenal scouts will be keeping a close eye on Saturday’s Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The Gunners will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season but will have to do so without star player Bukayo Saka, who will miss the game after picking up an injury during the international break.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of players recently, including Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian revealed his deep-rooted links with the north London club.
Speaking to The Athletic, Semenyo admitted that he grew up an Arsenal fan, following in the footsteps of players such as Pedro Neto and Tammy Abraham, who have been loyal to the Gunners since childhood.
Semenyo admitted he supported the club in his youth but insisted those feelings did not affect him on the pitch. The 23-year-old forward explained that he relishes the opportunity to face a top team like Arsenal and sees it as an opportunity to showcase his qualities.
“I’m an Arsenal fan.” Semenyo admitted. “But I don’t mix it with my work. I’m happy to play against Arsenal, who I’ve followed all my life, and I want to play for the best club. To do that, I have to prove myself.”
Semenyo’s ambitions go beyond being a fan. The Bournemouth winger has expressed his desire to eventually sign for a club of Arsenal’s caliber, especially one in Europe’s elite competition.
“Yes, that is the goal of every team that plays in the Champions League or the Europa League. That doesn’t happen with the click of my fingers. It’s about goals, consistent performance, and hard work.”
Interestingly, Semenyo’s comments come just weeks after rumors of a move to the Emirates emerged. Mikel Arteta is known to be a big fan of the Ghana international and the Gunners are considering a £70m move for him.
However, Arsenal are not the only club interested in Semenyo, as Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking him. Semenyo may be reluctant to consider a move to Tottenham because of his Arsenal links, but he is aware of the unpredictable nature of moves in football.
Another Arsenal fan, Dominic Solanke, recently made a big move to Tottenham despite his personal links with the Gunners.
