Ronaldo has urged his former teammate to join him at Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba to join Saudi Arabian professional league giants Al Nassr.
The 39-year-old opened the floodgates by joining the Riyadh club in January 2023, but a number of top stars followed by the end of the summer, including Neymar, Karim Benzema, and Riyad Mahrez.
According to TuttoJuve’s Massimo Pavan, Ronaldo is now hoping to reunite with Pogba at Al Nasr, which is why he has been busy convincing the Frenchman to join the Arab club.
The two superstars never played together in Turin but were teammates for one season at Manchester United. CR7 then left Juventus for a big return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.
A year later, it was Pogba’s turn to return and sign for the Old Lady as a free agent. But the 31-year-old’s second game at the Allianz Stadium was a disaster. After spending most of the 2022/23 season on the sidelines, he failed a doping test on the opening day of the next season and was banned for an initial four years.
Pogba’s ban was recently reduced from four years to 18 months, allowing him to play from March 2025. But despite the midfielder expressing his desire to wear a Juventus shirt again, the club do not want to keep him, allegedly. The club’s director of football Cristiano Giuntoli said the Bianconeri want to move on from Pogba and focus on their current activities.
The two sides are therefore expected to terminate each other’s contracts before the end of the year, allowing the Frenchman to look for a new club in January.
Bacary Sagna has urged Arsenal to sign his team-mate Pogba, but his future could be in Arabia or the United States.
