The New York Jets ended a five game losing streak against Houston Texans
The New York Jets ended a five-game losing streak by beating the Houston Texans 21-13 courtesy of Aaron Rodgers three touchdown passes in the second half.
Garrett Wilson took possession of two the scores with one-handed catches as the Jets won for the first time under interim coach Jeff Ubrich.
Rodgers threw for just 32 yards in the first quarter, that is his career lowest with at least 10 attempts, and Jets rookie Malachi Corley squandered a golden opportunity to open the scoring.
He appeared to have his first NFL score on an 18-yard run, but replays showed he dropped the ball before crossing the goal line in celebration.
Texas, which leads the AFC South, broke the deadlock before halftime when Joe Mixon scored on a 3-yard run.
Wilson’s first one-handed touchdown tied the game in the third quarter, and Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 54-yard field goal put the Texans ahead.
But early in the fourth quarter, Wilson added a second on a third-and-19 replay after a 26-yard pass from Rodgers that nullified the initial call for an incomplete pass.
Rodgers found Davante Adams with less than three minutes left in the game and Fairburn, who missed the previous two possessions, cut the gap to 21-13 with 39 seconds left, but the Jets recovered the onside kick to end their streak.
Rodgers finished with 211 yards, CJ Stroud going 11 of 30 for 191 yards for the Texans.
