Cole Palmer injury update ahead of Arsenal
With Cole Palmer injured, Chelsea are anxiously awaiting the results of the star’s scan.
Cole Palmer suffered a knee injury after being fouled by Lisandro Martinez against Manchester United.
Chelsea youngster Cole Palmer will pick up a knee injury after being fouled by Lisandro Martinez in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
He was seen limping away from Old Trafford and was still in pain when the Chelsea team returned to London. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said Martinez should have been sent off instead of receiving a yellow card. After the game, he told the Standard:
“As is clear to all of us, the referee is there to make decisions and he made a different decision. “If you had no intention of going for the ball you go for a player it was red. It’s definitely red.”
Speaking about Palmer’s injury after the game, the Chelsea manager was positive about his chances of a quick return to full fitness as he does not believe it is a serious injury problem.
“Cole didn’t train yesterday. We will see if he can today. We hope, we need to wait and see to decide [if he is fit to face Arsenal].”
Cole Palmer could miss Sunday’s game against Arsenal. The injury could come at a difficult time for the Blues as they face title rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea are currently level on one point with the Gunners with 18 points from 10 games. Arsenal’s current form is somewhat poor. They are winless in their last three Premier League games, including two defeats at Bournemouth and a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle last weekend.
The Blues fans will know their fate after today’s press conference with Enzo Maresca.
