Barcelona legend believes Xavi started a new era for the club not Hansi Flick
Barcelona legend believes Xavi started a new era for the club - "Don't think Hansi Flick started it"
It’s strange why Barcelona fans in general think that the team’s success under manager Hansi Flick directly implies that Xavi Hernandez is a bad manager.
The club legend had his lapses, but let’s not forget that it was he who brought order to the club during a time of struggles and even led the club to the league title with a team of young players.
Several players have defended the former manager in recent interviews. Supporting Xavi was former teammate Thierry Henry.
The Barcelona legend, who shared the dressing room with Xavi from 2007 to 2010, is now a prominent analyst for CBS Sports, and in his analysis of yesterday’s match, he credited the former Barcelona manager for the team’s success.
“I don’t think Hansi Flick started a new era, Xavi did,” he said.
Xavi left Barcelona at the end of last season. Explaining why he credits the team’s current form to the former coach, he said it was Xavi who had the courage to bring teenagers out of the academy and noted how skilfully Flick has continued this practice.
“He has continued what Xavi did with Cubarsi and Yamal who have now come up. Now the work he was also doing for two years with the players has been consolidated.”
Finally, Henry named Barcelona as contenders to achieve great things this season, especially in the UEFA Champions League.
“Barcelona are one of the favorites to win it, they can lose, but they are on the right path.”
