Barcelona Among Top Clubs Interested In Arsenal Star Next Summer

Spanish giants Barcelona are one of the top clubs interested in the Arsenal star next summer.

Thomas Partey’s future at Arsenal looks increasingly uncertain as the 31-year-old Ghanaian midfielder attracts interest from five clubs as he enters the final year of his contract. Despite being a key player for the Gunners, Partey’s recent injury history and Arsenal’s strengthened midfield options suggest he could leave next summer.

Partey has been a standout for Arsenal since joining in 2020, but his time at the Emirates has been blighted by injuries. He missed 59 games in the 2021-22 season. He appeared in 9 Premier League games last season.

However, Partey has appeared in all three of Arsenal’s league games this season, scoring against Aston Villa, and remains part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for the current campaign.

The competition for the midfield spot has intensified after Arsenal signed Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the summer.

As the season progressed, especially given the demands of European competition, Partey found his playing time reduced as Merino competed for a regular starting spot.

Partey is likely to leave as a free agent as his contract expires at the end of this season. Several clubs are monitoring his situation, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Al Ahly.

Atletico Madrid, who have played 188 games and won three major trophies, are also interested in signing him. Saudi Arabian clubs Al Hilal and Al Ahli are chasing the midfielder.

Juventus, who have been heavily linked with Partey in the summer transfer market, appear to be the frontrunners. The Italian giants are ready to offer the midfielder a three-year contract, which could be an attractive offer at this stage of his career.

Despite speculation surrounding his future, Partey will remain focused on Arsenal’s current campaign.

“My head is always here,” Partey said earlier this year. “This is where I choose to play. I’m really happy every time I’m on the field.”
