“Could Push for Chelsea Exit Next Summer” — A Popular Media Outlet Reveal The Chelsea Player’s Possible Move Away From The Club
The star-studded squad of Chelsea has been made Enzo Maresca created two different XI’s for Premier and Other Competitions respectively.
Christopher Nkunku’s future at Chelsea is already uncertain, with speculation that the French striker could leave Stamford Bridge next summer if he fails to secure a regular first-team place.
According to Football Insider, the 26-year-old is unhappy with his current role at the club and is considering his future options.
Speculation over a possible move for Nkunku intensified during the international break, with the former Paris Saint-Germain player having to privately quash rumors that he would return to the French capital.
In an interview with Telefoot, Nkunku addressed swirling rumors of a return to PSG, the club where he started his professional career before joining RB Leipzig.
His performances in Germany have earned him a £52m move to Chelsea in 2023, a deal seen as a key addition to the Blues’ attacking options.
However, despite scoring seven goals in 11 appearances this season, Nkunku has struggled to establish himself as a starter in Enzo Maresca’s side.
His return to the team was delayed by a long-term injury that kept him out for most of the 2023-24 season, and he has found the net just once in the Premier League since. He is competing with the Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson.
Nkunku’s challenge for a place in the team has worsened with new Chelsea signings Joao Felix and Pedro Neto competing for places in the attack as well.
Chelsea are not currently considering any bids for the Frenchman despite his stutters in London and believe he will have plenty of opportunities to impress in the coming months.
However, if things don’t improve, Nkunku could take matters into his own hands, with the striker “unhappy” with his backup role. His possible departure will come as a surprise to many Chelsea fans given the club’s massive investment in him just over a year ago.
With increased interest from Europe’s top clubs, Nkunku’s fans will be keeping a close eye on his situation at Stamford Bridge. If he goes ahead with a move, Chelsea could risk losing the talented striker they had such high hopes for.
Nkunku will be looking to break into Maresca’s first team immediately and recapture the form that led him to Bundesliga glory. It remains to be seen whether he will feature in Chelsea’s long-term plans, but with competition intensifying and the January transfer window approaching, the Frenchman’s plight will continue to attract interest.
