Former Arsenal player encourages Arteta to sign the Serie A Star

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has urged the club to sign the former Premier League star, who is now a free agent.

World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit has called on Paul Pogba to make a major return to the Premier League by joining Arsenal, suggesting he could help the France midfielder get his career back on track after a difficult spell.

Pogba, 31, recently had his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months after appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, allowing him to train in January 2025 and fully return in March.

Pogba returned to Juventus in 2022 after six years at Manchester United but has made just 12 appearances since returning to the Serie A club. Petit believes Pogba could leave Juventus on a free transfer next summer and said that Arsenal could give him the chance to ‘clear his name’ and rediscover his form. In an interview with Jeffbet, Petit said:

“Paul Pogba will become a free transfer at 32 years old… He wants revenge, to prove to himself and fans around the world that he’s not finished. Honestly, Arsenal should 100% gamble on signing Paul Pogba. He will give everything on the pitch.”

Petit praised Pogba’s physicality, creativity and adaptability, saying he would fit perfectly into Mikel Arteta’s midfield setup.

“Pogba fits the Arsenal midfield perfectly. We all know how good a happy Pogba is – he needs love and confidence. I think Arteta and Arsenal can offer this to him,” he added.

Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna agreed with Petit’s comments and suggested Pogba could join Arsenal. In an interview with Paddy Power, Sagna said:

“The Premier League suits Paul Pogba – I would love to see him join Arsenal… Arsenal have a young, fresh team, and I see him performing in an Arsenal shirt. He will get love from their fans and have friends around him, as he did in France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad.”

Pogba’s £89million move to United in 2016 was the most expensive transfer in history and he has struggled over the years with injuries and a recent doping ban. When the Court of Arbitration for Sport handed down a suspension, Pogba said:

“Finally the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.”

He said he unknowingly took nutritional supplements prescribed by his doctor and expressed his gratitude to the judges who heard his case.

Pogba’s return to the Premier League remains uncertain with his suspension cut short, but support from former French and Arsenal icons including Petit and Sagna could give the midfielder plenty to consider as he looks to revive his career in 2025. there is.
