Gary Neville Names The One Signing Chelsea Need To Make To Become Premier League Title Challengers

Enzo Maresca has so far impressed with four wins and two draws in Chelsea’s first seven Premier League games since taking charge in June.

But his impressive record suffered a blow as his side lost 2-1 to league leaders Liverpool in a thrilling game at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Following the result, Sky Sports pundit Neville has tipped Chelsea to make another signing if they want to challenge for the Premier League title in the near future.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson equalized 30 minutes into the second half after Mohamed Salah had put Liverpool ahead with a penalty. Despite this, Neville is not convinced the Senegalese forward is good enough to be a star player for the Blues and believes they need to sign a world-class striker if they are to win the title.

Speaking on Gary Neville’s podcast after the game, pundit Gary Neville said:

“I don’t want to criticize Nicholas Jackson because I think he could be part of a very successful team that could do well at Chelsea.” “If he has a world-class striker up front and he is the second striker, I think the team will be better off winning the title and beating Liverpool in a few years.”

He has highlighted that Chelsea need to sign another striker that will start of Jackson.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers during the summer transfer window as they look to add another talented forward to their impressive forward line but none of the deals could pull through.

The London club tried to bring Ivan Toni or Viktor Osimhen to the club at the last minute of the last summer. One of them could have undoubtedly been a huge addition to Chelsea’s squad, but both deals ultimately didn’t fall through, leaving Chelsea without a new striker.

Instead, Toni decided to join Saudi Arabia’s professional league club Al Ahly, while Osimhen was loaned to Turkish club Galatasaray.
