“He played an outstanding game” – Arne Slot praises Arsenal star
Liverpool manager Arne Sloat has acknowledged the outstanding performance of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka after he scored a stunning first goal in the club’s win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
Saka returned to the starting line-up after recovering from a recent injury and made an immediate impact, showing his outstanding form by scoring a fine goal to put Arsenal ahead early in the game.
Slot praised Saka’s quality and admitted he couldn’t blame Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson for trying to set up the 22-year-old’s first goal.
“Yeah, the first goal was an example of this, where you saw the quality of Saka,” Slot stated, as reported by Metro. “Maybe we had to do better, but sometimes you have to give credit to these special wingers. I think Saka, especially in the first half, played an outstanding game.”
Saka’s outstanding form against Liverpool continued to trend, with the England international continuing to present a tough test for the Reds. Saka scored twice in Arsenal’s home game against Liverpool last season.
Looking back on the match, Slott admitted his side faced a better Arsenal side in the first half but was pleased with Liverpool’s response after the break.
“To be 2-1 down, although I didn’t think they had many other opportunities, they were by far the better team in the first half”. He said.
“With one day less to recover, having played an away leg in the Champions League on Wednesday, to show up in the second half with the intensity we did was very pleasing to see.”
According to Slot’s comments, Saka continues to show off his world-class talent, especially in big games like the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Liverpool, earning respect from his opponents.
