Top 20 ATP Rankings: Jannik Sinner overtakes Tennis great, Jack Draper +3, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard +19
Jannik Sinner overcame tennis legends to remain world number one, while Jack Draper and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard reached major milestones in the ATP rankings.
Sinner entered his 21st week as world No. 1, which sees him surpass seven-time major winner Mats Wilander to move into 17th spot for the most weeks on top of the ATP Rankings.
The 23-year-old Italian missed out on the 500 points he earned to win the 2023 Vienna Open by not competing this year. Despite this, he still has a huge 4,300 point lead over world no. 2 Carlos Alcaraz.
There has been no movement in the top 10 of the ATP rankings since the ATP 500 tournaments in Vienna and Basel.
Alex de Minaur was one of last week’s top five stars, alongside Alexander Zverev, Andrei Rublev, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov.
The Australian reached the semi-finals in Vienna, becoming the only player in this group to reach the quarter-finals in either of the competitions. It also keeps alive Minaur’s hopes of reaching the ATP Finals at the Paris Masters.
Britain’s Jack Draper won the second and biggest title of his career after defeating Karen Khachanov in the Vienna Open final, climbing three places in the world rankings to a career-high No.15.
France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard climbed the 19 spot after a superb performance against Ben Shelton at the Swiss Indoor in Basel. Like Draper, the 21-year-old’s win gave him the second and biggest title of his career.
Félix Auger-Aliassime has fallen eight places from 19th to 27th after losing 450 points in the second round in Basel. The 24-year-old Canadian won the 2023 ATP 500 tournament.
